How has it been so long? I remember the day we met. He was so coy and charming, refusing to dance with me. He always says “I wanted to stand out!” (but I think maybe he was just a bit shy). A few days later, he asked me out to dinner and we went to Cafe de L’Universite, a little student restaurant close to ULB. He ordered the lasagna, I ordered the chili, and we spent ages talking about life.
I think that was really the first sign of love – the ease of everything. I remember coming home and talking to my roommate about how easy it was to talk to him. That ease has carried through our relationship since.
The things that followed are still a dream to me. Our trip to Paris, exploring Luxembourg, long walks in Brussels in the springtime… we’ve had so many adventures since. And even with the hard times (because there’s definitely been plenty of those) we’ve somehow managed to stay together through thick and thin.
So here’s to you, my dear, and to many more adventures together. There’s no one else I’d rather be with. Happy anniversary.
